Our Summer Vacation

The cousins @ the splash pad in St. George, Utah

This year our family went to St. George, Utah. to visit family. We were so excited to go and to spend some time hiking, biking, swimming and eating. My cousin makes the most amazing food and we knew we would be in good hands and have a ball. Getting to St. George is just a straight drive and fairly easy to get to. Our drive was quite uneventful and quiet. Now that the boy's are a little older traveling is a little bit easier than it was when they were so young. We played games, listened to great music and checked out the roadside view as we drove along. One of my favorite things to do in the car is to read and enjoy my time with my family. Being that I am so busy all the time, I hardly ever get to read as much as I like as so when we take a road trip, I like to catch up on some reading. Finally we arrived in St. George and were greeted by the dry desert air that sits in this area surrounded by amazing red rocks and baby blue skies. It is such a beautiful place and also has the cleanest air. Unlike Huntington Beach, CA where we are from. St. George has always held a special place in my heart because as a child I often vacationed there and have many fond memories of the wonderful summers, family, and food. Memories that I will always hold dear to my heart. This summer we had a great time and did a lot of fun things.  My cousin took me hiking and running up a steep hill that helps to keep my cousin in shape. It was a interesting workout and very challenging. I enjoyed it and also loved the quietness that was available to us in the early morning hours on that day. We took the kids hiking and took in the beautiful view that you can see when you are on top of those red rocks, it just takes you're breath away. We also went swimming at the new recreation center that had a fun in-door, out-door water park and the kid's loved it! Playing pickle on my cousin's basketball court was a high-light for the family, as well as late night drives to the duck pond to find big Hugh frogs. One evening we went up to the red rocks and had pizza and made smores. We hiked up onto the rocks and checked out caves that the kids loved! They each had flash-lights and looked everywhere they could for bugs, and trails. One of the highl-lights was the splash-pads that sprayed out water. It was fun to let the kids play in them. Watermelon kept us cool and lot's of water too. The weather was hot, yet it felt wonderful. Yes, you can say we took the town by the tail and had a ball. My family took in a movie while we were there called, " Despicable Me", and it was really a cute story-line and the theater also  provided  a cool place for a Sunday afternoon. The wonderful food, the family and the company was really a treat and when we ended up leaving and packing our car we had a moment of wondering if and when we would be back to visit. But I say, I hope it won't be long, because I love St. George, it is a wonderful place and I have many memories from there that I will treasure for ever. Blessings to all, Stacy Rae Mednick
